Influence...

Like most young twenty somethings, I have hopes & dreams for the future. Like a lot of people in my age group, my ideas about the future change from moment to moment. Although it is normal to be unsure of what to do next, I somehow feel behind everyone else.

We all draw inspiration from different people and places. There are many people who have impacted my life in a positive way.

In the fourth grade my teacher inspired me to be the best me possible. She had a major impact on my life. My teacher taught us how to be ladies & gentlemen. She instilled in the class that with hard work and dedication, we could do anything we put our mind to. At the end of the school year she gave each student a copy of a letter she had written to the class. She encouraged us to keep in touch with her. I still have that letter, tucked away for safe keeping. Karen continues to be a strong force in my life today.

Karen taught me to reach for my dreams and today I stand taller because of the lessons I learned from her.

Perfume...

I love scented lotions & body sprays. I try not to be one of those people who stink up a place long after they leave. Some perfumes do not like me for one reason or another.
I tend to be a very scent oriented person. I can smell something and it reminds me of vacation, or a certain place.

When I smell chocolate chip cookies, fresh out of the oven, I think of my high school cafeteria. Every day at a little past ten in the morning, a fresh batch of chocolate chip cookies came out of the oven.

Some perfumes make me think of who bought it for me. Sometimes if I am thinking of someone, I’ll wear the perfume, or lotions that person gave to me.

Today, it was kind of gray out, so I wore my pink hoodie and pulled out a fruity perfume, I had bought while on vacation. The mist fell on me and for a brief moment, I was on a beach soaking up the sun. All day, I have felt energized with the smell of vacation.

When I smell warm potatoes and eggs, I think of breakfast at my residence dining hall. When I smell a lilac scent I think of my residence room.

A smell, good or bad, can take you anywhere. I love the smell of warm maple syrup in the winter. It makes me think of class trips to the maple syrup farm. Even on a dark winter day, a good smell can make your day.
